Alive & Well ("the app") is a wellness check-in and personal safety tool. The app allows you to set periodic check-ins, send SOS alerts, and notify trusted contacts if you miss a check-in. It is designed to help users stay connected and promote peace of mind but does not replace emergency services.
When you activate the SOS feature, the app may request access to your device's location. Location data is used solely to identify nearby users who can receive your SOS alert. The app does not track or store your location in the background.
The app requests permission to read your device contacts (READ_CONTACTS) so you can select trusted contacts from your address book. Only contacts you explicitly choose are stored within your account. The app does not scan or collect your contact list automatically.
Notification permissions are required to send you check-in reminders and to notify your trusted contacts if a check-in is missed. Notifications can be disabled in your device settings; however, disabling them may reduce the effectiveness of the check-in features.
On Android, the app may request call log access during an active SOS to confirm whether a saved trusted contact called you after the SOS was triggered. The app uses this only to mark that contact as responding and to clear the active SOS. The app does not store or upload your full call history.
Your account information, check-in settings, and selected contacts are stored securely in Firebase Authentication and Firestore databases. We use this data only to provide the app's core features and do not share it with third-party marketers.
Alive & Well is designed to enhance personal safety, but it is not a substitute for police, medical, or other emergency services. You remain responsible for your own safety and wellbeing. By using the app, you agree that Alive & Well and its developers are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your reliance on the app or its services. Always contact emergency services directly if you are in immediate danger.
